Content Matters Labs creates educational and marketing content for service businesses in the wastewater, water treatment, and adjacent industries. Some of that content references regulations, scientific principles, and operational practices. This page explains what that content is and isn't.
Educational, not professional advice
The articles, anchor pages, and other content in our packets are written for educational and marketing purposes. They are not:
- Engineering advice for any specific plant, facility, system, or operational scenario.
- Legal advice about regulatory compliance, permits, enforcement, or liability.
- Medical, occupational health, or environmental health advice.
- Financial advice.
- A substitute for licensed professional review of any specific matter at your facility, your client's facility, or under your jurisdiction.
If you operate, engineer, manage, or advise a real facility, you and your licensed colleagues remain solely responsible for operational decisions, compliance interpretations, and engineering judgments. Our content is a starting point for content marketing — not the basis for action.
Regulatory currency
Federal, state, and local environmental and water regulations change. Our packets cite the regulations and standards that were in force at the time the packet was researched and written. You are responsible for:
- Verifying every cited regulation is still in force.
- Confirming numerical standards, IDLH values, MCLs, and similar values still match current sources.
- Adjusting for jurisdictional differences (state-level rules, local ordinances) that the packet may not have addressed.
- Updating publication dates and "current as of" language to reflect when YOU publish.

Outcomes are not guaranteed

Where the packet cites a source — a federal regulation, an industry standard, a peer-reviewed paper, an EPA document — we believe the citation is accurate at time of writing. Sources may move, be revised, or be withdrawn. The Regulatory Currency Check is your verification step.
