Every Complete Deployment Packet you download has a small number of bracketed placeholders that look like [YOUR COMPANY NAME HERE] or [Month Year]. They mark every place where your company's specific information needs to slot in.
We use them so the content stays generic until you make it yours, and so you can find every spot that needs your input with a single search.
How to replace them — the safe way:
- Open the .TXT file in your packet, not the PDF. (PDFs are read-only.)
- Use Find & Replace in your text editor or word processor. On Mac, that's Cmd+F → click the dropdown → "Replace." On Windows, Ctrl+H.
- Search for the placeholder including its brackets — for example,
[YOUR COMPANY NAME HERE]. - Replace with your text. The brackets disappear.
- Repeat for each placeholder. Each article’s
1_README.pdflists every one. - Before pasting into your CMS, do one final search for
[andYOUR— if any are left, you missed one.
Most packets have between 4 and 8 placeholders. The list of every placeholder in your packet is in the PLACEHOLDERS TO REPLACE section near the top of each article’s 1_README.pdf.

Common placeholder issues:
- Missed one after publishing — before hitting publish, do the sanity search for
[andYOUR. If a placeholder made it through, edit and update — most CMSes push the fix live in seconds. - Find & Replace finding false positives — always search for the full bracketed phrase, not just the open bracket.
- Brackets appearing after paste — this means your CMS didn’t render the replaced version. Re-open the .TXT file, confirm the replacement stuck, and re-paste.
